Arrest of MP Mithun ‘illegal’: YSRCP leaders

YSR Congress Party general secretary and former Rayachoti MLA, Gadikota Sreekanth Reddy, condemned the arrest of Rajampeta MP P. Mithun Reddy, describing it as “illegal.”

He was speaking at the party’s “Babu Surety—Mosam Guarantee” programme held at Chinnamandem and Sambepalli mandals of Annamayya district on Sunday. The event aimed to expose the “fraudulent promises” of the coalition government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Senior party leaders Ramesh Kumar Reddy and Balasubramanyam were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Srikanth Reddy accused Mr. Naidu of pursuing ‘vengeful politics’ and encouraging belt shops in rural areas to benefit the Telugu Desam Party cadres. He said: “It was Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, when in power, raised the liquor prices and reduced the number of outlets to curb drinking.”

He claimed that during the YSRCP regime, all sections of society including — students, women, farmers, unemployed youth, and senior citizens — benefitted in a big way from the numerous welfare schemes and development initiatives.

The YSRCP leaders reiterated that they would not relent till Mr. Naidu’s “Super Six” promises were exposed. They said the TDP’s promises of free bus ride for women, unemployment allowance, and ₹18,000 financial assistance to women and free gas cylinders to women would not materialise.
