Today Weather Report, Rains News Live Updates: Bengaluru has been witnessing incessant rainfall since Sunday, causing floods and traffic jams in the ‘IT Hub’ of India. Three people, including a nine-year-old boy, were killed in rain-related incidents in Bengaluru on Monday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Bengaluru and a yellow alert at various places – including Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, and Koppal – on Tuesday. A red alert has been issued for Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, Bengaluru city received 105.5 mm of rainfall during the 24 hours ending 8.30 am on May 19. The last time it rained this heavily during this month was on May 18, 2022. Social media was awash with visuals of heavy rains and waterlogged streets.
A political slugfest also ensued as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that the crores of rupees spent by the Congress government over the last two years on the city’s infrastructure have yielded no results.
