A murder-accused prisoner at Delhi’s Tihar Jail allegedly died by suicide at the prison’s hospital by hanging himself from a window, officials said on Tuesday.
He was an under-trial inmate, identified as Ramesh Karmakar, who was lodged in Jail Number 4. He was undergoing treatment at the jail hospital in Jail Number 3 since May 28.
His body was found hanging from a window on the night of July 13, after which the jail authorities were informed the next day, officials said.
He was arrested on April 22 for allegedly killing his partner after she threatened to tell his wife about their relationship. The police said he used to work as housekeeping staff in hotels and restaurants.
As he started complaining of dizziness, pain in his right ear, and reduced hearing, he was admitted to the hospital on May 28, the officials said.
